This is the National Novel Writing Month for 2012. It is separate from the 750words.com that I have been using but it is a similar idea of an honesty system of writing. NaNoWriMo goal is to write 50,000 words or more in the Month of November. This is about 1670 words per day but you don’t have to write every day but as I’m also doing 750words I must at least write 750 words anyway. At the end of November the 750words site will give me a NaNoWriMo badge.
For me that is about 670 extra words per day from my normal 1000 words.
What I have discovered over the past 3 days is that I run out of inspiration at 1000 words a day on one book so 1600 or so words is hard for me.
My solution is to write 1000 words on one book and 1000 words on another book so I have increased my output to 2000 words a day which means I easily hit NaNoWriMo and then some.
Update at end of November: What I really discovered happened was that I can’t keep up a pace of 1600-2000 words a day but must stay on my regular 1000 words a day. Whilst I can burst to 2000 words, it is hard to keep up that pace.
So I ended up doing 30,000 words just like any other month in the past 6 months. At the end of December I’m on 200 days on 750words and just over 198,000 words.
